Wedding – Andrea and Kieron at Mercure Bolton

Choosing a wedding photographer who is the right fit for you can be a challenge. My job as a wedding photographer is beyond showing off some galleries – it’s about building a solid relationship, putting fears at rest, creating trust and getting along with their wedding guests. Andrea and Kieron’s job of hiring me to be their Mercure Bolton wedding photographer was made much simpler by the fact that they’d attended the wedding of Samantha and David as guests, seeing me in the flesh and of course, the wedding galleries afterwards.

Our conversation started along the lines of “I was the one in the green dress”, but of course Andrea’s dress would be white for her special day. With the wedding day two days before Christmas, the Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel (to give it it’s full name) was full of Christmas decorations which were tasteful enough to blend in the wedding decor. A morning civil ceremony ensured that there was plenty of natural light for some outdoor portraits, seeing as we were only two days past the winter solstice and we were blessed with a dry day.

Having met the couple at the venue for a pre-wedding meeting, it was clear that they were after a relaxed vibe to the day, but also documenting the families and friends together was important, following recent illness. The emphasis however was to have fun on the day, and this couple did not disappoint. The groomsmen and bridesmaids were all on great form, allowing us to grab some fun shots. Bridal prep was seamless, apart from me having to help Andrea put her shoes on. The ‘reveal’ to the bridesmaids and the parents caused tears aplenty, and the ceremony started with flower men throwing petals as they danced up the aisle – perfect!

Everything else seemed to flow smoothly, with a 20-minute civil ceremony, a ‘hollywood’ first kiss, confetti down the aisle and straight outside for the group shots, the day was fast paced but at the same time calm. With some heartfelt speeches before the meal, the scene was set to take Andi and Kie away from their guests to create some lovely romantic photos. Then back to join their guests for the evening celebrations, cake cut and first dance. It was lovely to catch up again with my previous couple Samantha and David who were here as guests. The perfect day really, just before Christmas with a wonderful couple.
