Indian weddings are marvellous. Captivating, Colourful, Chaotic. These occasions break away from the ‘norms’ of a white dresses and strict timetables. Paven and Zak didn’t disappoint when they asked me to be their Manchester Registry Office wedding photographer. This Manchester City Centre location can be challenging in terms of parking and finding green spaces to shoot those all-important group shots, but my couple had a plan. More on that later…
Once I’d got my booking through the Hitched website, we arranged a meeting at their house to discuss their plans for the day, which consisted of a morning ceremony, followed by a wedding lunch across the road at Fountain House pub. Myself and Rick made our journey to the Northern Warehouse car park for the day, which is a 5-10 minute walk from Manchester Registry Office – handy. Zak and the guests were calm, relaxed and waiting for the ceremony ahead, but the MUA had a disaster with Paven’s make up which needed to be rectified and as a result, Paven missed her wedding ceremony slot! Luckily, the registry office had another slot 3hrs away, so we needed a plan ‘B’…
Manchester Registry Office Wedding Photographer
The solution was simple – move the wedding ‘lunch’ forward to become a wedding ‘breakfast’. The Fountain House Pub were able to accommodate this and we all ate some fantastic buffet food once Paven had arrived. Her makeup was fixed and her wedding dress was stunning, with delicate gold jewellery and beautiful henna on her hands. The wedding speeches became the pre-wedding speeches but it worked. Soon after we were fed and watered, it was time to head back over the road to Manchester Registry Office for their Civil Ceremony. With rings on fingers and kisses exchanged, it was time for those group shots. Paven and Zak arranged for a coach to take us all to Didsbury for some group shots in Parsonage gardens and some portraits afterwards in Fletcher Moss Gardens, then onwards to Vermilion restaurant for the evening celebrations.
Vermilion is a fantastic venue, with rooms to accommodate all sizes of party, good bars and great food. We didn’t leave hungry! With meals eaten and wedding speeches made, it was time for the cake cut and first dance. The DJ/lighting guy was a bit too enthusiastic with the smoke machine, so we were shooting through fog at times, but once that had cleared down, the dancefloor was filled with happy guests who were clearly in the party dancing mood. A timetable thrown out the window, multiple locations to travel to, swapped events, foggy dancefloor, but we had a blast!
