Sophie contacted me via my website form to ask if I was available to be her Stockport Town Hall Wedding Photographer, asking for 2 hours coverage of the ceremony with some formal photographs to follow. The initial contact was some 16 months ahead of her wedding date, but we exchanged a lot of questions and answers by email and phone to ensure that she could relax safe in the knowledge that I would look after their needs. For some people, a full day of wedding photography is not a priority – only the key moments are necessary, and I think that’s only natural. Stockport Town Hall Wedding Photographer
Stockport Town Hall is a Grade II listed building with renaissance architecture, built in 1905 and given the nickname “The Wedding Cake”, due to the stunning marble tiered clock tower above the main entrance. This landmark building is quite popular with couples who want to get married locally. Sophie and Aaron chose the Marble Staircase for their wedding ceremony, providing a dark but very ornate atmosphere. Coverage started at Sophie’s arrival into the town hall, where I grabbed a few fun portraits to get her used to the camera and relax her nerves.
The atmosphere was intimate with around 55 guests and the ceremony was filled with beaming smiles from the couple and their guests. With rings exchanged and a first kiss made, it was a quick walk outside to the street for a confetti walk which I always enjoy as the passing motorists often sound their horns as they pass to congratulate the newlyweds. Then it was back inside to grab those all-important portraits before drinks were served on the Regalia corridor. Sophie and Aaron are a lovely couple and it was a pleasure to be a small part of their day.
